Vita Machiko Takahashi

She arrived in Europe in 1969. “First Prize of Virtuosity” at the Conservatory of Geneva/ Switzerland, at a very young age. In the following years, she completed her studies with the world renowned pedagogue and flautist André Jaunet in Zürich. At the age of twenty, Machiko Takahashi had started making her career in the avant-garde music as well as the medieval-baroque music field (also playing the recorder) in two extremely contrasted periods of music. In Geneva”,IMC” Contemporary music ensemble and the “Ensemble Antiqua” contracted her. Few years later, the avant-garde ensemble ”2e2m Collectief” in Paris invited her as solo flautist.

When she moved to The Netherlands, engagements followed ; The Nederlands Chamber Orchestra(first solo flautist), The Mozart Players (first solo flautist), The Xenakis Ensemble(first solo flautist), The Royal Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra(first solo flautist).

In 1985 she formed “Amsterdam Chamber Ensemble” with five solists of The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and made innumerable concert tours.

As soloist, she has participated in various music festivals throughout the continent, and playing with many orchestras ; l’Orchestra de la Radio France in Paris, The W.D.R.Koln Radio Symphony Orchestra, The Sudwest Radio Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden, The Royal Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, to name but a few.

The Radio Sudwest in Baden-Baden/Germany contracted her for many years to make recordings of flute concertos for their broadcasting. In 2000, she formed a new group with 12 strings and flute “Solists of The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra”. After 14 years of teaching at the Conservatory in Arnhem/Netherlands(1989-2003)、she is now since 2005, professor at the University of Arts in Okinawa /Japan. The master classes have been organized for her throughout Europe,Japan,Canada and Taiwan.
